Why is Slice grayed out in Design Space?
Slice works on exactly two layers. With one layer, three layers, or a group selected, the button stays gray. It isn't broken; it's waiting for a different selection.
The fix
- 1Click empty Canvas to clear the selection.
- 2Hold Shift and click exactly two layers: the cutter shape on top and the shape to cut below it.
- 3If one of them is a group, Ungroup it or Weld it into one shape first.
- 4Click Slice, drag the pieces apart, and delete the leftovers you don't want cut.
